NPL NSW Seniors Club Championship Update – May 15th

So it seems that FNSW want to make our job as hard as possible for us to provide commentary on the Club Championship.

Thankfully there was no changes to promotion/relegation for NPL 1 however,

Bonnyrigg still find themselves at the bottom of the list on 61 points, picking up 6 from last week.

Sydney FC only managed 2 points over the weekend, placing them in 11th, with a 19 point buffer from relegation.

From there, there is only an 8 point gap to 7th. It shows that if Bonnyrigg can find some Club Championship points, there are plenty of other clubs ready to take their place in the relegation zone.

Central Coast Mariners retain their position at the top of the table, and are well on track to join fellow A-League academy side Sydney FC in the first division (assuming they find a way to stay up).

Mt Druitt and Western Sydney Wanderers are still hot on their heels, only 15 points adrift of the leaders.

Despite gaining 10 points, Parramatta are still coming in last place.

However, Canterbury Bankstown and Spirit will be thanking their lucky stars that the restructure has been postponed, meaning that they are now out of relegation danger.

Bankstown City have leapfrogged Hawkesbury City into 1st place, with a 4 point lead.

St George City also sit only 7 points behind the leaders.

Fraser Park are now the sole relegation candidates after WNSW Mariners managed to pick up a point.

Granville, Inter and Stanmore will also be thanking their lucky stars, as they are now out of the relegation zone.

Stanmore has a 27 point buffer over Fraser Park, meaning that the relegation battle is likely to remain between Fraser and WNSW.

State League

CCU are now level with UNSW, both on 139 points, with a 20 lead over 3rd placed Bankstown United who still remain in the hunt for promotion.

It’s not too early to count out Nepean FC either, who are behind by 30 points, but still have plenty of rounds remaining to make up the difference.

Gazy are still coming in last, but did manage to find 3 points. They’re lucky there isn’t a lower tier, meaning that their position in the pyramid will be safe for another year.
