Wolves On Verge Of Return To Glory
- Updated: July 27, 2019

Ask any football fan outside of Australia and they will tell you the only thing that matters is finishing top of the table.
Of course in Australia we’ve developed the need to have finals to determine the victor, but die hard football fans here will still maintain first past the post is what counts.
Which is why Wollongong Wolves will be itching to grab their first piece of silverware since 2008 and their first Premiership is 1988, a little of 30 years ago.
A win today will cap off a tremendous regular season for the club who have been revitalised under Wilkshire with attackers Thomas James, Takeru Okada and Lachlan Scott leading the charge with the team scoring 49 goals with 3 games to play.
And it’s hard not to mention the outstanding defensive display all season, conceding only 14 goals and on pace to set a new NPL NSW record of fewest goals conceded in a season, with 11 clean sheets I all competitions.
In only 2 games have they failed to score and 2 games they have had more than 1 goal scored against them. Quite a remarkable feat.
If they finish premiers, their eyes will firmly be on the Championship and then onward to the finals series.
Should they do the double and compete a treble by finishing add overall npl Champions it would definitely be a return to the glory days of when the club finished back to back Champions in the NSL.
