Waratah Cupdate

Can Sydney United 58 make it back to back to back Waratah Cup wins this year?

Their 3-0 win against Bankstown Berries on Tuesday night suggests that they might be able to become the first team ever to win the cup 3 years in a row.

Their first title of this run came in 2015 when they defeated Blacktown City 1-0, then winning it again the following year with another 1-0 win against Manly United.

All that stands in their way of another cup final is Hakoah Sydney City East who drew straight into the semi finals after defeating Rockdale City Suns 3-1 in round 7 of the FFA Cup.

In the other preliminary game, Blacktown City put on a clinical second half against Hills United winning 5-0, with all goals coming in the 2nd half.

Blacktown will now take on fellow NPL 1 heavyweights APIA Leichardt Tigers in the semi final. APIA Leichardt of course getting through after defeating SD Raiders 2-1 at the very end of extra time in round 7.

Both semi final games will be played on Wednesday 28th of June. Sydney United will be hosting Hakoah at Sydney United Sports Centre whilst Blacktown will host APIA at Lilys Football Centre
