Northern Tigers FC
The Northern Tigers were founded in 2002 when Ku-ring-gai and District Soccer Association purchased the license of Balmain Tigers for the New South Wales Soccer Federation Division 1. The name was changed to Northern Tigers, representing the North Suburbs of Sydney. Games are played out of North Turramurra Recreation Area, with the youth SAP sides playing at NTRA, Chaarleas Bean Oval at Lindfield and at Mills Park, Asquith.
In 2003 they were promoted to the FNSW Super League (Now NPL 2) after finishing premiers, then finished premiers again in 2007 however declined promotion to the FNSW Premier League (Now NPL 1). They were crowned champions in 2010 after defeating St George FC 4-0 in a thrilling grand final. Northern Tigers also were champions in the 2015 season, however due to club championship points were not promoted.
Notable former players include Murray Barnes, Robert Hooker, Robert Wheatley and Bruce Djite, who recently won the premiership and championship with Adelaide United in the 2015-16 A-League season.
