Could SSFA Be Entering An NPL Side?

We have been hearing rumours that the Sutherland Shire Football Association are looking into submitting a team into the NPL competitions.

The Shire Football Association is already committed to the Womens game, with a team in the Womens NPL this season playing out of Harrie Denning Soccer Centre at Kareela.

The Shire has the largest junior football competition in Australia, providing a large catchment for youth players, as well as a strong seniors and 21s competitions, with Menai Hawks 21As winning 3 Robertson Cups in a row.

Of course there would be direct competition with the Sutherland Sharks NPL side, however the extra opportunities for local talent is a massive bonus.

IF they were successful in entering a team however, that would mean the demise of at least 1 more current side in the system. In our article last week, we discussed which teams may be forced out of the pyramid, and it wouldn’t be too hard to find another club that doesn’t meet the criteria if FNSW so decides.
