Club Championship Overview – July Week 3

NPL 1

After having a week off as the Waratah Cup Final was played (and won by Hakoah), all the teams were back in action in the NPL 1 competition.

Blacktown City maintain their lead, now enjoying a 48 point lead over APIA, showing how much of a powerhouse the club is across all it’s grades.

Parramatta FC are now only 13 points away from being mathematically relegated. Meaning that Bonnyrigg only need to secure 14 points across it’s grades, or Parramatta fail to get all their points to send the club down to NPL 2 next season.

NPL 2

What is their to say for the NPL 2 comp that hasn’t already been said by now? Marconi maintain their lead at the top, and only require 84 more club championship points to secure their promotion.

Meanwhile, Bankstown City are still languishing at the bottom of the table , only picking up 2 points over the weekend.

It really shows how much they have struggled across all 3 grades compared to the Berries who have really picked up in 1st grade, to give themselves a 39 point buffer of safety.

NPL 3

Much like the division above, not a lot has changed in the NPL 3 comp. After 19 rounds, its only Rydalmere and Fraser Park that have a shot at promotion. Admittedly St George or Dulwich Hill could rise to the top, but it would involve the top 2 teams to seriously slip up.

Granville Rage, despite having an alright season in 1st grade, are still sitting bottom of the table on 85 points. Balmain Tigers are just above on 91, a 6 point gap. Short of one of the other teams slipping up, either Balmain or Granville will be heading down.

State League

Bankstown Uniteds lead has trimmed to just 6 points, and its now Camden Tigers in 2nd place! After winning their catch up round against Nepean, and having 1 more to play, the Tigers are poised to leapfrog Bankstown and go for promotion.

Going into the final 4 rounds, the gap from 1st to 4th is only 15 points, meaning that any one of those 4 teams have the potential for promotion.

There are a few key games coming up that will heavily impact the championship in the next 4 weeks; Bankstown v Nepean, Bankstown v UNSW, Camden v Nepean.
