Club Championship Overview – July Week 2

There’s no NPL 1 update this week, with the competition on hold due to the Waratah Cup final. But is there any lead changes in any of the other leagues?

Not a great deal has changed this week in the championship for the NPL 2. Marconi maintain their dominance with wins in 1st grade and in the U2os. However the Northern Tigers have overtaken the Western Sydney Wanderers moving up to 247 points with WSW back on 244 with their 1st grade failing to register any points. As such Marconi have a 43 point lead, increased from their 37 point lead last week.

And again down the bottom no changes to the team sitting in the relegation zone. Bankstown City failed to pick up any points over the weekend whilst the Berries have moved out to 130 points. They are slowly chasing down Macarthur Rams who are on 145 points and Mr Druitt Town Rangers.

Every week it’s looking more and more certain that Marconi will be moving back up whilst Bankstown City will be heading down a division.

The gap between Rydalmere and Fraser Park currently stands at 10 points, FPFC still with their game in hand against Granville.

Speaking of Granville, the Rage still sit at the bottom of the table on 82 points, 5 points away from Balmain Tigers, who increased their lead by 2 points. At this stage it’s anyone’s guess as to who will be joining the State League competition next season.

State League

And last but not least, our State League Championship race is still very much on! With 5 rounds left, Bankstown United hold their lead at the top with 2018 points, gaining maximum points over the weekend. UNSW move up to 193 points, just missing out on the maximum with a draw in their U18s.

Nepean FC sit just behind the leaders on 191 points whilst Camden Tigers are lurking in 4th with 181 points. Camden are yet to play their catch up games, so it will be very interesting to see how the table reads after everyone is all squared up.
