5 Predictions for tonight’s games

Sydney Olympic v Marconi Stallions

We see this game going to extra time with both sides getting some goals into the back of the net before the final whistle. Ultimately our prediction is for Marconi to sneak through to the national stage once again with a late extra time goal.

Manly United v Rockdale City Suns

Rockdale have been in fine form in the league as of late and we see no reason that they won’t get the job done against Manly despite losing to Marconi 5-2 over the weekend. We feel they had one eye on tonight’s match and expect it will be a close one.

Wollongong Wolves v Mt Druitt Town Rangers

Wolves to win in a penalty shootout and James to get on the score sheet again. The Wolves are itching to get back onto the national stage as they stake a claim to a spot in the 2nd division when it gets up and running. No doubt if they make it through, they have the side that can upset an A-League team as well, and Thomas James has been in fine form with 15 league goals.

Rangers are languishing down in 2nd last on the table and new recruit Pavlovic is cup tied, so we won’t be seeing him, however in their last meet at WIN stadium Rangers held Wolves to a 1-1 draw and had the chance to win were it not for a dubious penalty.

Sydney United 58 v Northern Tigers

NPL 1 powerhouse v NPL 2 side. United should be roll over the Tigers in the 90 minutes, but we’re not counting them out completely. Our prediction is that both sides will get onto the score sheet, with United to run away with it late on in the game.

Dulwich Hill v St George

7th in NPL 3 v 12 in NPL 2.

Dulwich started off the season is strong form and have slipped back a little whilst St George haven’t built from their 3 wins.

“Home” advantage for Dulwich Hill might give them a slight edge as St George have to travel out to VSP and we see Dully winning in extra time and heading into the round of 32 for the first time. It’s safe to say it’s the biggest match for both teams in a long, long time.

Bonus Prediction: There will be one overhead or 40m+ goal scored.
